Im Jahr 2017 machte die Zuger Künstlerin Patricia Jacomella Bonola einen Atelieraufenthalt in New York. Die Anreise mit dem Container-schiff «CMA CGM GEORGIA» von Genua nach Newark und die Zeit in der Metropole beeindruckten die Künstlerin sehr. Ihre gesammelten Eindrücke verarbeitete Patricia Jacomella Bonola in fotografischen und Mixed-Media-Arbeiten, welche aktuell in der Ausstellung «Pequod» in der Galerie Billing in Baar, zu sehen sind.

Vom 4. Mai bis 30. Juni 2018 zeigt die Stadt Zug am Lüssiweg 19 eine Videoinstallation von Patricia Jacomella Bonola aus dieser Serie. Das Werk trägt den Titel «au coucher du soleil» und hält einen besonderen Moment der Atlantiküberfahrt der Künstlerin mit dem Cargo-Schiff fest.

Au coucher du soleil

Short version of the original movie, in which the time dimension is strongly accentuated and it is perceived as a disturbance element, in fact, the video is composed of a single one-hour-long scene in which the only movement is given by the flow of water and the slow and progressive displacement of shadows reflected on the containers. Although the video was shot at sunset, the sunset is not visible but only perceivable.
