The festival's programme focuses on works created by artists at the crossroads of contemporary art and avant-garde cinema, making it one of the few festivals in Europe with these characteristics. The film Nuclear Family, directed by Erin and Travis Wilkerson and displayed at the last Berlinale edition, will be screened. Within its extensive programme, the 4 monographic sections dedicated to the Italian collective Flatform, the Swiss artist and director Pauline Julier, the Portuguese artist Daniel Blaufuks, and the Spanish filmmaker and digital artist Blanca Rego stand out. INTERSECCIÓN – Contemporary Audiovisual Art Festival will hold its fifth edition from 18 to 23 October in A Coruña with a programme focusing on works conceived and produced at the crossroads of contemporary art and avant-garde cinema, covering a wide variety of formats, techniques and languages: screenings, exhibitions, and performances, among others. INTERSECCIÓN will have this year a space to support the creation, development of projects, training and insertion of Spanish authors in the international professional circuit. This activity, christened INTERSECCIÓN LAB, makes this festival one of the few Spanish festivals with this kind of project. It will be made up of four activities: BASE, in the form of a project development workshop; 1to1, with personalized tutorials; CORTE FINAL, intended for projects with a more advanced assembly, and RESIDENCIAS, for three authors to make use of the facilities provided by the organisation for one month.

INTERSECCIÓN will have 4 monographic sections. The first revolves around the Flatform collective, based in Milan and Berlin. Their works have been shown at the Teatrino di Palazzo Grassi (Venice), the Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo (Turin), the Cannes Film Festival and the Mostra del Cinema di Venezia, among others. The second monograph is dedicated to the Swiss artist and director Pauline Julier, the first to be held in our country. Her work explores the connections that humans create with their ecosystem through stories, rituals, knowledge and images. Her pieces are made up of elements from diverse backgrounds (documentary, theoretical, fictional) to reinstate the complexity of our relationship with the world. His films have been shown in contemporary art centres, institutions and festivals around the world, including the Centre Pompidou in Paris, Visions du Réel in Nyon and the Museum of Modern Art in Tokyo. The third monographic focuses on the work of the Portuguese artist Daniel Blaufuks and will exhibit 4 works that have never before been shown in our country. Blaufuks uses video and photography, presenting his work through films, books and installations. He has a predilection for themes such as the connection between time and space, at the intersection between private and public memory. The fourth monographic is a retrospective of the work of the Galician artist and filmmaker Blanca Rego, also known by her alias "_blank". Her proposal focuses on the relationship between image and sound, influenced by both experimental cinema and electronic music. Her work has been shown in dozens of film festivals, museums and galleries, including the Centre Pompidou (Paris), Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía (Madrid), ZKM Museum (Karlsruhe, Germany), Barbican Center (London), iotaSalon (Los Angeles) and Espacio Fundación Telefónica (Madrid). Finally, among the extensive programme of INTERSECCIÓN, it is worth mentioning the screening of the film Nuclear Family in the International Section. In order to overcome his latent fear of the nuclear apocalypse, filmmaker Travis Wilkerson decides to take a road trip with his wife and children to visit both missile silos and nuclear test sites in the United States.
