Art and Parenthood

A conversation with Maria Guta, Sophie Ballmer / Idle Hands and Tobias Kaspar, moderated by Melanie Bühler – in English

What does it mean to be a parent (or to decide not to become a parent) and to work in contemporary art? How has parenting influenced artistic practices? This panel is dedicated to the thorny subject of parenting/having a family in contemporary art as an idea, lived reality and impossible situation.

Melanie Bühler is Senior Curator at Kunstmuseum St.Gallen. Her exhibition “Burning Down the House. Rethinking Family” will be on view at the Kunstmuseum from May 31st onwards.
