«Der Beginn einer Reise zur Selbstentdeckung»: So erklärte Kudzanai-Violet Hwami die Ausstellung ihres Werks in London im Herbst 2021. Diese Reise wird nun im Pasquart in Biel fortgesetzt. Identitätsfragen stehen im Mittelpunkt des Schaffens der jungen simbabwischen Künstlerin: In einer subtilen Mischung aus Authentizität und distanzierter Analyse hinterfragt sie in ihren farbenfrohen, oft grossformatigen Bildern ihre eigene Autobiografie und ihren Platz in der Welt als schwarzafrikanische und lesbische Frau.
