kitchen story with artist Susi Hinz & neuroscientist Ani Kaplanian about "What if I were an AI?"

For the talk "What if I were an AI?", artist Susi Hinz invites neuroscientist Ani Kaplanian to DOCK. Drawing on Hinz’s research-based installation HYDRABABY III, the discussion will explore scientific insights into the capacities and functions of the human brain and walk through them with speculative and questioning perspectives from an artistic viewpoint.

The discussion will raise questions about the possibilities and limitations of manipulating and controlling the brain, as well as enhancing its performance on a technological and neuronal level. These questions will be critically examined within the context of transhumanist and posthumanist ideas, as well as ongoing medical projects.

For both Hinz and Kaplanian, the primary focus lies in intertwining disciplines such as art and science and engaging with a broad audience, rather than exclusively with specialists. They are particularly interested in the fissures between these fields, as they offer opportunities to formulate new questions on socially relevant topics concerning the relationship between humans and nature.
