Ana Bălan & Oriane Emery — Are you a broken heart? We can fix this!

Love is one’s of the richest and most complex contemporary subject to describe. While everything could be summarized through a cardioid shape (full, broken or pierced by an arrow), it remains one of the most strangely tragic and mysterious experience to depict. There won’t be enough tears nor butterflies to tell how mesmerizing this could be. How fragile and tangible it is. How it became a pure product of one’s imagination. How the lack of it can astonish and blow away so much of one’s self.

While images can only isolate few glimpses of one’s love, music eases the pain and movies recreate a distant sensation of it. Words can create walls and castles, bring back the sun on a rainy day, absorb an excessive amount of enraging and consuming feelings and thus turns mud into gold. Words can bring back what isn’t there to be anymore. Offering the impossible possibility of living again amongst the pain.

We would like to invite you to a heartfelt event in presence of artists Ana Bălan and Oriane Emery who will both take upon the space to share performances and readings on this occasion.

Ana Bălan (*1998) is an artist and musician living and working between Bucharest and Lausanne. Her work is focused on the collection of words, memories and images.  Using drawing, poetry and music, she creates spaces that are confessional and intimate.

Oriane Emery est titulaire d’un bachelor en arts plastiques de l’ECAL et y suit un master. Elle a bénéficié d’une formation théâtrale pré-professionnelle d’Evaprod. En s’intéressant à nos moyens de communication, elle souligne à travers la mémoire intime et collective la violence de ceux-ci. Ces dix années d’expérience dans le monde du théâtre lui ont permis de se former aussi bien au jeu qu’à l’écriture. Cette pratique reste ancrée et importante pour elle, notamment pour ses performances. Elle attache une grande importance à l’utilisation de l’espace, à son statut et à son rapport au corps. Parallèlement, elle continue d’écrire entre le journal intime et l’écriture automatique, sur le vif.
