Between The Lines

Some of the worst employment-crimes happen in clothing factories in the Asiatic countries, which produce clothes for big warehouse at low cost, thanks to workers exploitation. Nowadays clothes are selling at giveaway prices and this encourages and promotes the impulse buy of needless clothing. We buy an obscene amount of clothes and there are some serious implications of consuming clothes in ever-increasing volumes: Seven in ten items of clothing aren’t worn and they are discarded in our used clothes bags, which are landing in massive quantity in Africa and there they are destroying the local textile industry. For the installation Between the Lines instead of throwing away my old knitwear, I’ve unraveled sweaters and cardigans and whit its wool I’ve made a 639 m long cord whit the knitting mushroom. In the exhibition it will be stretched up to obtain a huge web in which we are all in some way caught and with which the public will need to interact.
