Paper Positions

For its first inclusion in Paper Positions Berlin, from 24 - 28 April 2019, the Geneva gallery Le Salon Vert is delighted to present a series of works by the French artist Stéphane Erouane Dumas (b. 1958) and the German artist Heike Weber (b. 1962).

Dumas’s oils on paper are from his “Wintertime” series, landscapes done in a subtle range of cold tones that evoke snow-filled forests and frozen lakes. Copses of delicate birch trees and mosaics of reflections on water create motifs that tend toward the abstract and elicit a nearly spiritual perspective when contemplated at length.

Weber’s paper cut-outs include dense, interlacing vegetation that appear like windows into a jungle.  These cut-outs, done in dark paper with highlights of acrylic paint that mimic reflections of light, are composed of two superimposed layers and attached to the wall with pins to give volume to the entire piece.  This airy superimposition creates a play of shadow and light, adding density to the whole and projecting the viewer into the work.
