Data Mining è una mostra che presenta una selezione di opere di artisti che guardano alla tecnologia con uno sguardo insolito, distante dal freddo tecnicismo di chi se ne serve in maniera prettamente strumentale. Il titolo fa riferimento al termine informatico che indica l’estrazione automatizzata di informazioni dalle profondità del web, ma apre a suggestioni geologiche. La mostra è introdotta da un estratto del libro di Giobbe che evoca il disperato affannarsi degli uomini alla ricerca di qualcosa che non si trova neanche nel più profondo abisso. Le opere in mostra, in maniera differente, condividono con questi versi una cupa atmosfera di sfiducia negli uomini e il loro strumenti, aprendo spiragli su un sottosuolo non esclusivamente minerario.

Data Mining is an exhibition that presents a selection of works by artists who look at technology with an unusual gaze, far from the cold technicality of those who use it in a purely instrumental manner. The title refers to the computer term for the automated extraction of information from the depths of the web but opens up to geological suggestions. The exhibition is introduced by an excerpt from the book of Job, which evokes the desperate search of men for something that cannot be found even in the deepest abyss. The works in the exhibition, in different ways, share with these verses a gloomy atmosphere of distrust in men and their tools, opening up glimpses into a subterranean world that is not exclusively mining.
