Petra Gut Contemporary is thrilled to announce the return of the celebrated fine art photographer David Yarrow (born 1966) for his second solo show with the gallery. The exhibition, which will run from May 14th to July 14th 2020, will present recent work by the photographer, featuring both stunning wildlife photography and arresting portraits.

David Yarrow is known for his spectacular monochrome images and his signature style that places the viewer right at the heart of the action, freezing dramatic moments into immersive photographs that are worth lingering over. Whether he’s travelling the world’s remotest regions in search of disappearing species through his conservationist work, or capturing utterly compelling portraits, Yarrow’s technique is to always try to get closer to what’s happening.

The artist will be present for an opening reception (date wil be announced in due time), when he will also be signing copies of his latest book, David Yarrow (Rizzoli, 2019). This 368-page eponymous monograph brings together 150 images from the past two years, hand-picked by Yarrow himself, along with a first-person narrative that ties them all together. It also features a foreword by NFL star Tom Brady and an afterword by model, actor, and activist Cindy Crawford.

Yarrow has recently returned from Australia, where he was working to document the effects of the recent devastating bushfires – especially their toll on the region’s flora and fauna. He has launched a campaign called #KoalaComeback as a result of these distressing scenes he faced there, which has garnered support from the likes of Chris Hemsworth and Cara Delevingne.

Petra Gut Contemporary was founded in 2015 in the heart of Zurich and currently represents a mix of international emerging and established artists with the focus on photography, conceptual and minimal art in various media.
