Cut the Mustard 2023

Cut the Mustard is an annual exhibition format showcasing a selection of works by artists enrolled in the Hochschule Luzern Design & Kunst bachelor programme “K++V”. This year, the selection has been made by curator Matthew Hanson and gallerist Damîen Bertelle-Rogier, both of whom were ‘Guest-Guest Curators’ for the 2022-23 semester. The exhibition is hosted by Galerie Lullin+Ferrari, Zurich.

Chosen from 37 portfolios, this selection reflects a range of positions and practices emergent within the bachelor programme. A number of works engage with the material conditions and labour of artistic production, others explore art in relation to domestic work and daily life. Certain works question the social role of art in relation to popular entertainment and technology while others interrogate history and memory in light of the future.

The exhibition is installed and facilitated by Anna Konstantinova (Lullin+Ferrari), Anouk Koch and Dustin Kenel (HSLU).
